What a tram, running between Tünel and Square with a handful of passengers, could mean to Istanbulites today is undoubtedly a debatable topic.
One thing that cannot be debated is that this tram lived the recent history of modern Istanbul and witnessed those days.
Is it merely an ornament of the city?
It has a warmth in the lives of most of us that corresponds to memories.
The Red Tram is our youth, our hopes, our desires.
It has a certain place in the repertoire of not only Istanbulites but all of our people about Istanbul because of the great meanings and expectations this small vehicle has been loaded with or that we have loaded onto it.
.
Our city is our mirror and has always been so all over the world.
Our city is what we are.
A city is never loved without understanding it.
